One thing that i´d like though was that it was possible to change mouse/wheel/click behaviors. And it´s the old problem, that if you put to many ways to do the same thing in a program, it ends up slowing every one down. Whether that keep some people away from reaper or not is another issue. I don´t think the one way is better than the other, just different. so you use the select tool to select ect. While i think it´s way faster to use modifier keys+mouse to do stuff, it can be easier to select a tool if you don´t do much work in the program. And Fade in/out from the cursor on selected item. I do quite alot work in ProTools, and it has some good things, especialy the a,s,d,g keys, where you can cut from cursor to the left, right. They all sucked huge donkey dangly bits when compared to Reapers intuitive system. If you can imagine a feature, it's probably there somewhere, so look in logically likely places.Īctually it has several "editing modes" called slip and slide (and a bunch of others if I remember correctly) Right click on all the gui bits you missed the first time Ask without embarrasment - if anyone is rude to new users, I send round two of my boys to discuss it with them Search the forum for likely keywords (eg Ripple) Carefully study all the preference pages Read through the assigned and unassigned keyboard shortcut "actions" list so you've got a feel for the scope of the program

That Reaper doesn't have that is one of its downsides (but not surprising at the cost - in fact it's a miracle there's any manual at all), but once you get used to finding your way round the program, especially if you are "into" this kind of stuff in the first place, it's pretty intuitive.
Part of the cost of the costly apps must almost certainly reflect the expense of getting a team of manual writers to document them. Just to clarify completely on the manual aspect - this is being handled as a volunteer by a pro manual writer (Malcolm) but there's only so much of his 'spare' time that he can devote to it.

and let us know what kind of soundcard u're using etc.Īnd one thing for sure, Price range comparing REAPER & PT, i much prefer REAPER a thousand time, editing is freaking fast, load up audio fast as anything out there as DAW, i mean, just keep with REaper and keep your PT because u're very use to it and follow Reaper's growing and work with it from time to time and get use it until u feel comfortable and u will until version 2, i'm sure their will be a major improvements and this little software is gonna blow a lot of DAW's out there. Look again and i'm sure u will fix your problem. As someone said here, it must be your Soundcard, a wire, check if anything is armed in an audio trakc in reaper and there is like a mic on without noticing or whatever else but not BECAUSE of REAPER, thats totally not the answer.
ONe thing u need to put into your mind, is that IT IS IMPOSSIBLE that the software, the DAW is the reponsible for that. I'm simply answering about the "High Pitch Hum frequency" that u mentioned u hear when using REAPER. Yet when i use Reaper i get a high pitch hum frequency. Also when i use Adobe or PTLE everything is cool. Seems like alot of issues arent covered in the online manual.
